I came across this book after stumbling upon a recommendation from Tim Cook of Apple. After reading the book, I came to understand how Apple dominated its turf in quality products backed by smart supply management & strategies by racing ahead of time & market. Time is money and there are customers who are willing to pay a premium if you can deliver above & beyond average speeds. A great book for those who are starting out their own brand and having to deal with various vendors in supply chain.

After reading the book, I learned a ton about business and how the time-based competition method works. I began to realize how Apple works better and understand Toyota's importance in the automobile industry. That is what makes an artist take a brush and force his vision on the canvas, or on a wall or on a scrap piece of paper. If an artist has seen night— he has to paint it. Night drives artists insane. Just ask Van Gogh. Just ask Velazquez. Just ask Siqueiros.”The Last Cigarette is a collection of poems by Benjamin Alire Saenz. I fell in love with Saenz’s writing when I read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and when I saw that he also wrote poetry I knew I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. This collection was so raw and real. He took personal issued and tied them to society in ways that felt so believable. I felt connected to Jaurez and the struggles. The struggle of being an adult male and self reflection. And his frequent call for empathy for things we would rather not see will live with me forever. I have many lines marked in this book that have inspired me or made me think. I know this will be a book I come back to to feel these things again and for inspiration about facing life. This is a definite five star read for me.
