When my daughter died, I received dozens of books from my friends and family on various aspects of grief and life. My attention span was nil, however, and I was only able to read things that pertained to loss of a child specifically, and only in very short amounts. I would have pored over this book, because of its small sections that contain other parents' experiences and feelings, and its captions of each section. It is easy to read, and Gary Roe understands grief, personally and professionally. I appreciate this book. I will obtain copies to have on hand for other grieving parents in my grief support group! Thank you!

There is so much compassion in this book! I wish they handed this out for every parent who walks out of the hospital without their child. I love that the chapters are short, as grief is so overwhelming and the mind cannot grasp everything all at once. Very helpful with the questions at the end of each chapter and also the suggestions to do things to help you heal. In reading the book, it felt like a warm comforting blanket was being placed over my heart, which was Shattered when our son died 2 years ago. Every day is a struggle and it's nice to know that so many of the things we felt at the beginning of this were validated by what I read in this book. I highly recommend this book to anybody who has lost a child!!

It has been less than a year since our daughter unexpectedly died from sepsis just days before her 37th birthday. Since then my wife and I have been making the grief journey at different paces and with different challenges. We found help in a variety of sources but I wish this book had been available earlier.While the book can be, and perhaps should be, read from cover to cover, it is organized and written such that I can refer to the “meal-sized” chapter that speaks to what I am experiencing today. Some days I feel confused. Others I feel the support of friends. Gary Roe has a chapter for what I need along my journey. Each chapter tackles an aspect of losing a child with an insightful quote, a personal account of loss, Gary’s insight and explanation of what is going on, specific actions that I can take, and a closing quote from someone further along the journey.I highly recommend this book for someone who has lost a child. Read several books on loss and grief after the death of our son. This is the best one I've read so far. It is written in an easy-to-read format. The short sections help the reader not be overwhelmed with too much material at once. It covers the many aspects of loss, grief, and working through it. The personal stories are very powerful and helpful. While specifically about loss of a child, everything in the book can be applied to the loss of any loved one.

Gary Roe has a gentle, compassionate, empathetic voice through his written word. This book is a great companion for dealing with the day to day challenges we go through as we grieve. Chapters open with real-life stories from people who have lost a child through varied circumstances. Chapters are titled for easy reference so that when I have an unexpected moment of overwhelming grief I go to a chapter that I think will help and re-read it. I got the Kindle version when it was featured and then bought the paperback for my husband.

I studied Spanish in school and the stories in this book are an entertaining way to refresh rather than just reviewing vocabulary lists or verb conjugation charts. The one small change I’d make is putting the key vocabulary words before the story but otherwise this is an excellent option for someone attempting to brush up on the language.

I decided to buy this book to brush up on my Spanish since I haven't studied it in a long time and I still consider myself to be a beginner to the language. The book itself is fairly simple for beginners and it has a glossary after each story for complex vocabulary. However, I would not recommend this book for complete beginners, as not all the words in the stories are translated. If anything, it is helpful for those studying Spanish already and need an extra studying boost. Otherwise, this book is great for those willing to study Spanish!

The book contains a total of ten short stories that revolve around daily themes that are in Spanish as well as English. This book gives us an effective way of pronunciation as well as an English glossary in case if we do not know the meaning of such words. Reading through this book I can tell it has multiple levels of handle on the language in mind as it breaks down some phrases and words in between the stories and teaching sections.Honestly, if you're looking to learn a language I would suggest this book simply because not only are the illustrations cute but if you somewhat think of it like a Spanish to english dictonary in a sense that you'd want to reference it and read through some of it to understand what you're hearing, so I personally feel it'd benefit anyone looking to learn spanish or if you already know a bit it doesn't hurt to read the short stories inside of it, they're all really cute actually. This was the 4th ebook I tried out and to be perfectly honest, this one was a lot easier to understand and the formatting was very easy on the eyes. The way they broke it down during each section and sewn the english and spanish together really helps you stay on your toes and prevents you from going too long without actually learning something, which is far better than some ebooks that dedicated most of it to the language (in this case spanish) and not really give you a helping hand by explaining in english or giving you a quick run down in english and spanish.If I had any cons about this product, it would be the the thematic length of some stories. It's not too long or too short, but some times when you're getting into a story it ends abruptly, so if I could offer any criticism, it would be to format some of the stories better so it follows an overall theme so you're not hopping around too much, it can get overwhelming but overall a fantastic book, especially in ebook form.

I have always wanted a thorough understanding of, at least, conversational Spanish but the last time I studied spanish was in middle school. Several years later I am very much out of practice. This book makes it easy to pick up right from where I left off. The book reminds me of the verbs and such that I learned in school and also introduces new vocabulary and uses it in real dialogue. My favorite feature is the audio, after I studied the vocabulary, I used the audio to speak the language at a more regular pace. I believe this is a great book for a low-intermediate user, meaning you probably should know some Spanish before you start this book.
