I had to buy this book for my Intro to Costume Design and I am so glad I did. It goes over EVERYTHING that you need to do when designing. It is a step by step with instructions. It has a lot of information on how to research a play. What to look for. And then goes into how to create/design for a character. Lastly it shows you how to develop a costume parade.

Probably the best book for costume design students on the market. I've used it for years.

I love not having to think about what colors to use and the book takes me back to my younger days!

The pics are large and will be a good way to practice shading. I do wish there were more pictures.

The coloring book is nice. I gave it as a gift to a friend.

Will not buy another Zen book. The numbers often seem out of character or context. Many areas, large and small, did not have numbers. Numbers looked like they were printed on old dot matrix printers. This does away with the whole point of purchasing a book with numbers.

It's been years, maybe 2 decades, since I last bought one of these babies, and boy have things changed. The articles are better, but the publication listings are meager compared to years past. I guess this just goes to show how many magazines have gone out of business, but I also can't help but notice there are several magazines that I either subscribe to or have seen on the stands that are not listed in this edition. Not sure what that's all about. In some future edition, they should think about including online venues such as Salon and The Onion and other popular sites that pay writers. Still, this is helpful and worth the price tag.

There a ton of magazines that Writer's Market does not cover. I find it unreasonable that so many state and local magazines are covered but there are a ton of national trade magazines that pay better than local or state magazines. That is not to say that Writer's Market is not a good resource for writers but it leaves so much to be desired. I write only non-fiction and write for a lot of trade magazines that are not in this book. These magazines pay from $300-500 per article averaging 750 words. You guys really need to step up your coverage of trade magazines.The reviewer is a writer and marriage, relationship and sexual coach and is the author of the Kindle book entitled:Sex Education For Adults Secrets To Amazing Sex and Happily Ever After Too

The book just gets better and better. The list of magazines that publish freelance work is comprehensive and look up to date. Plus, the extras are very helpful, such as how much writers should charge for various types of work. This book never disappoints, and this year is the best one so far.

The subtitle of this book should be: Don’t give up your day job – or maybe, even, Don’t waste your time.(This review is not based upon personal frustration. This book sets an ambitious goal but then fails to follow through. A lot of the book is devoted to the importance of developing plans and action for the Third Stage of life but then remains very sketchy on the actual details. In fact, one could read the book as an informercial for Encore.org, which the author is involved with.

To put this into perspective, I've done a lot of research on this particular subject so my opinions are based on that. If you're new to the subject, it provides a good but not great explanation. However, if you're looking for more than inspiration, then this book is essentially of minimal use. An alternative that's very good is the Encore Career Handbook by the same group.

Not a world-beating best seller here, but a good little book.

The book is good. I enjoyed encore more. It's worth the price. I don't agree with some of the author's suggestions like people being able to draw their Social Security funds early to funds a gap year. Maybe if he had suggested allowing withdrawals from a Roth IRA or a 401K instead.

The best of all the previous Nordstrom books and a very easy/fun read. I was a Corp officer for 22 years and even I learned a bunch.

I love this book. It’s my 3rd copy. A must if you work in the customer service industry.

The book presents in a readable and pleasant way the principles of the values-based success in customer service and retail excellence of Nordström. Lessons for everyone in service business and especially in retail.

This book contains many tidbits of a successful “customer first mentality” including stories and examples. While it begins to get repetitive and drag towards the later sections, this is a great read for anyone who interfaces with customers or manages sellers as part of their profession.
