Not only is Sweeney a master strategist, but he explains complex concepts in plain English. His material is easy to grasp and digest. I have followed him for some time and he has yet to disappoint me. I am a live cash player and he offers me more useful material than the typical tournament/online coaches. Dollar for dollar, I feel that my study budget is better spent on his works. If you can't learn to win with Splitsuit, try pinochle.

Review of Optimizing AKThis book is another example of what a great teacher James Sweeney is. But, better yet, he teamed up with Adam Jones who is an incredible teacher and coach as well.So, why should you spend your hard-earned money on a book about just one hand?? Well, the deep dive concepts that are presented to the book aren’t exclusive to AK of course. With most of the concepts in the book, the authors expand on how to apply the principles discussed to other hands and ranges. Included in the book are links to videos and homeworks that get you engaged and studying. To start you are essentially being guided through learning about hand vs hand and hand vs range equities and equity realization concepts preflop. One of the great things about the book is that it meets you where you are. If you are less experienced, you can take your time and slowly work through the ideas (having a solid background in poker helps…consider the Core program Red Chip offers if you are trying to build a solid general foundation of poker knowledge). And if you are more experienced, while a number of the concepts will be familiar, it can be humbling to recognize where there are some gaps in your knowledge and easy to access homeworks to polish up your skills is invaluable.From the preflop concepts and homework, the book goes on to cover a plethora of postflop concepts with several chapters discussing flop scenarios and concepts and a specific chapter each on the turn and river. Multiple examples are given throughout the book as well as questions to think about before going on to read the answers/discussion. They also address specific questions which students sent in regarding issues they struggle with around AK. Tournament play is separately addressed as well.In summary, another great work from the Red Chip folks. The Sweeney/Jones combo is dynamite and I highly recommend the book. James Sweeney does an excellent job teaching everything you need to know about this specific hand holding. Reviews equity share va specific hand and player ranges. For me he does an excellent job transfer knowledge of this holding for a semi-professional like myself. The material you get out of this book will be useful at the table. Like everything James put out, you can pick up the book and read it again and learn something new every time.
