Se entera de las cosas que pasan en su país cuando regresa de sus viajes o cuando alguien la llama para contarle. Todos los ricos de Colombia, Alemania, Francia, y Londres de esa época eran parientes, sus “amigos de toda la vida”, o sus pretendientes.Para alguien cuya vida corría peligro a diario, tal y como relata acerca de las llamadas telefónicas, las amenazas, y los problemas financieros, tiene una memoria increíble.La historia de cuando se va a la isla y nadaba en 3 horas de un extremo al otro, me parece exageradísima, y le resta credibilidad al libro.Los secretos y las confidencias parecen, en su gran mayoría, suplidas por Garganta Profunda, y ella se las acredita como pertenecientes a conversaciones con ‘su Almanegra’. El resto del libro es acerca de la vida ‘chic’ que tuvo hasta que la embarró metiéndose con el capo.

Se necesita tener mucho valor para admitir y contar esos históricos momentos que desangraron a la bella Colombia! Una excelente narrativa, cuando empiezas a leer el libro no puedes dejarlo, me tomo dos noches terminarlo, me intrigaba toda la corrupción que rodeaba al gobierno Colombiano, con narcos paras y guerrilleros; sospecho que las cosas no han cambiado mucho.Por ultimo, por favor no compren el libro pirata que ha salido al Mercado y Amazon lo esta vendiendo también, no se por que razón?El libro pirata es de tapa roja, la portada es una baratija, nada que ver con el original que esta hecho con el buen gusto y elegancia que destaca a la autora. I bought this book for my own entertainment and information. I'm a Colombian who has been away from my country for over 50 years.So, I don't keep up-to-date with the things that happen over there. I like the book in general. It was well written even though the themeof the book is so brutal and sad. Hope Virginia Vallejo is having a more peaceful and happy life away from all that tragic relationshipshe had with Escobar. The past is dead and should remain that way. Just look to the future with more experience eyes and heart.Yolitatx

Una historia escalofriante, llena de amor,intrigas, odio y maldad. Una historia q confirma mi teoría de que la realidad supera siempre la ficción. He quedado con sentimiento de angustia y ala vez,de agradecimiento con los que hacen posible que el mal no triunfe. Con una profunda solidaridad por mis amigos colombianos que me han contado tantas historias sobre esta época oscura de su país por el flagelo del narcotráfico. Se lo recomiendo a todo aquel que dude de las consecuencias de una mala decisión, por q esta historia es básicamente,la crónica de una joven que creyo, en su absoluto egocentrismo,poder jugar con fuego y no quemarse. Un libro que me mantuvo pegada a él desde su inicio y que no pude soltar hasta que lo termine.

The last time that I sat in a college chemistry class was 45 years ago, so needless to say, skills were a tad rusty. This book presents the material in an organized and concise manner and was easy to reabsorb. If you've never taken chemistry, I would recommend a college chem text to assist in clarifying some concepts, but if you just need to refresh some rusty skills, this book does the job just fine.

Holy Moly this book is incredible. I passed my College Chemistry placement test and tested out of the class I wanted to skip because of this book. If you just sit down and do the worksheets, you'll be golden. I also bought Chemistry for Dummies which didn't really help me understand anything. But this book paired with some basic chemistry You Tube videos and I totally taught myself chemistry. It was mind blowing. DO IT. You will be glad you did.

I never took chemistry. So I'm learning at 70 plus. I'm only thru the chapter one. if the rest of the chapters are as clear I should be able to learn and interesting subject.

Very well written book.It takes a bit of time to adopt the style of the author, then you will get a perfect self study guide.I will put its text quality above average university text book. All material is perfectly linked - if you see a question, you will be able to find explained answer in the text.Helped me a lot for the "General Chemistry" course in the university.

I love this book. I wish there was one like it for every subject. The lessons are clear to the point and incredibly repetitive. The books gives you a rule then immediately asks a question. If you are looking for a book that will make the difficult subject of Chemistry manageable this is the book to get.

Excellent for self-instruction. Starts at a very elementary level. it's based on the programmed learnning method, with a lot of repetition of exercises. If you like that approach, you'll like this book.

I really like how, they broke every topic into multiple frames, then provide a quick quiz right after you read literally read one sentence; and the answer is right underneath. I'm shocked that I'm actually learning. These this-subject-for-dummies books usually don't end up working out for me. I usually get uninterested midway in the first chapter from not learning anything. But the shortness of each topic they want you to learn with the quiz right after definitely hammers the knowledge in your head. No need to guess if you're actually learning the right stuff or guessing about what stuff you need to remember. I'm definitely gonna check out they're book for Calculus.

It is equivalent to a beginning high school chemistry class - emphasis on "beginning". Even so. this is a wonderful review of the foundations that higher forms of chemistry are based on. One needs to understand the basics before building a foundation.Learing chemistry is easy with the format used in this book. The book poses questions about each subject and then gives the answers and explains why the answer is what it is. The explanations are quite simple and easy to understand. I knew some chemistry going into this book, and the book refreshed my memory and reconnected the neurons in my brain to once again have a basic handle on chemistry.I recommend this book to anyone who needs a high school equivalency in chemistry. Excellent book, excellent study guide, excellent framework for learning, and quite interesting.konedog

In other words these Detectives and their Captain need to know how to handle the elite and their harsh personalities.In this first book of the series the city of New York is trying it's best to lure the Movie and Television Industry to come to New York and make more flicks there instead of in Hollywood. Unfortunately a disgruntled and disturbed individual wants to sabotage the week of events scheduled. So, this person sets about to start murdering people who are wealthy, connected and part of the Hollywood scene.At first it seems like just one murder, but as the bodies pile up the NYPD Red team his overdrive to try and solve the crimes.There are a bunch of little sub-plots that run through the novel involving the two main detectives, Detective Jordan and Detective McDonald. It seems they have a past dating relationship and that causes some issues. I've never stopped reading a series of fantasy books right in the middle, but I'm out. So....many....words. Every little detail is spelled out, right down to the thread color in dresses. Good Gawd. Others might like that level of detail, but my eyes start to glaze over and my mind wanders to more interesting things....such as flogging hateful bossy Nynaeve with her waist long, wrist thick braid. Almost every character is either sullen, manipulative, sulky, resentful, hateful, sexist, secretive, spiteful or dull. I've been annoyed with most of the main characters since the first book but thought maybe they'd get better...but no. I don't find myself cheering for the "heroes". I've slogged through the word swamp of five of these books, and I'm throwing in the towel. Give me RA Salvatore's dark elf Drizzt any day of the week, he's a hero I can root for.

Alright, once again I'm in a 'four or five stars' predicament. And as usual, I'm calling it a 4.5 and rounding up. Call it generosity, call it not being critical enough, whatever. This was a great book. I don't know why I even say when I'm between ratings, I could just rate it and move on. And now I'm talking about the fact that I didn't just rate it and move on. Anyway...Another thread in the Pattern complete. The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills and it wills me to love this series. I am in deep now, this being the fifth of fourteen books, and the best way to describe my feeling within this world is.. comfortable. I have reached a point where even areas of the story that are paced slower still remain interesting to me, simply because I've grown fond of this world and the characters that fill it. Jordan remains a descriptive master, and if you give his writing the thought that it asks for you will find yourself in places as fully realized as those around me as I type. Now, that isn't to say that I will let any and all slow pacing off the hook, I'm just saying that it didn't bother me in this book. Maybe it will in the future, who knows?Now, the slower pace for this one did lend itself to some excellent characterization. Especially in Nynaeve. We get to spend (what felt like) more time with she and Elayne in this one, and I am really enjoying Nynaeve's growth. She is finally becoming a bit more self-reflective, which I've been waiting for for some time. You can feel her start to change, and feel how it affects the characters around her too. I will admit that she has a long way to go when it comes to her attitude toward men. And really, no character gets a pass on this. It seems every man in the series can hardly stand to be around women, and the same for every woman with men. At least in their internal dialogue. It comes off false, and frankly a little weird. It's one thing to fear Aes Sedai, but this is just frustratingly blind, and way too generalized. I'm ready for that to change. It doesn't bother me totally, because it's sort of been this way from the beginning, but if it did change it would be welcome. Anyhow, I was also pleased with Mat's POVs, I just wish there were more of them! I won't detail his growth because it's a major spoiler for readers in the earlier books, but it is very satisfying to watch, and Mat has come a long way from the boy he was back in Emond's Field. I have the sense that he has a long way yet to go, too. I was a bit surprised to find that Perrin has no POV chapters whatsoever in this one. He is mentioned offhandedly a couple of times but other than that, we are left in the dark as to just what Perrin Goldeneyes is up to during this book. I'm eager to have that cleared up in the next book. Rand's part of the story remains as compelling as ever, and is likely still my favorite bit, but I'm glad to see some interest building in areas of the story where it may have lacked before.Areas of slow pacing aside, The Fires of Heaven really did have some moments that packed a punch. These are long books, and reality never takes a break, so they can take me some time to finish, but I was pretty enthralled with the story throughout. I can usually tell how invested in a series I am by how many notes and highlights I have for each book in my Kindle, and I've got a whole hell of a lot for this one. The Wheel of Time is so far living up to its reputation for me, and has maybe even exceeded my expectations a bit. It's ambitious, interesting, full of magic, and shows no signs of stopping now. Lord of Chaos is up next.Life is a dream from which we all must wake before we can dream again.

Stopped reading this series at book 5. Way too many details. I don't need to know what every character is wearing and what colors the clothes are. Good Lord. And the main characters are all vindictive, petty, envious, vengeful, immature, self-centered, secretive, disloyal, back-biting, gossipy pains in the ass. I wish Nynaeve had been killed off before this book. What a harridan. All the male characters are dunderheads and completely swayed by a pretty face. And all the women care about are the size of their breasts and how they look in a dress. I don't understand why people love this series. Badly written and over-plotted dreck.

[Some Spoilers]So i just started the Wheel of Time a few months ago, and just finished book five the other night. Like most of the previous reviews says this book drags on and there are bits that could have been left out completely.PROs - Mat is finally doing something! His character has always been moppy and kind of a sore of a character, but he's finally taking shape. Yes he still complains about his destiny and being forced into the pattern, but he is learning to accept it. Rands character as well is taking shape and becoming a good leader. Is he going mad? We shall seeCons - Where was Perrin? His story in book 4 was amazing, but he's not mentioned really at all this book. I was just waiting and waiting to hear what has been happening with him in the Two Rivers, but nothing! Like seriously??? And Nynaeves character is still so boring most of the time. Thank the lord they brought in Birgette or it would have been a snooze fest. Finally.... We get it. Men wielding the one power destroyed the world, but the constant boy vs girl fight is getting tiring

There is much in here that is applicable to any potential new business owner. The specific restaurant knowledge in here needs to be complemented with experience in the business, but the authors are not trying to replace experience with this book. It's a great book for helping one decide whether to take the plunge and open their own business.

There are so many details in successfully operating a restaurant, so it's not likely that any one book will cover it all. This book is pretty good and covering the most important components of operating successfully. The book is very weak on business plan so I would not buy it for business plan purposes, but it is a good read and it will help you remember all those important details.

This book was bought for my teenage son who wants to open a restaurant when he gets older. I thought it would be a good starting point for him. The book has quite a bit of useful information.

I hope they published how to go bankrupt for dummies and file for chapter 13. The restaurant was fun while it lasted.
